Gelatissimo

The cold weather yesterday didn't stop me from trying out the yummy gelatos from Gelatissimo. Funny but I already knew which dessert house to visit even before deciding where to go for lunch. With a variety of options to choose from fruits to chocolates, who am I resist such temptation? And if you haven't tried gelato yet, I highly recommend Gelatissimo.

Gelatissimo

See the lovely interior in their Trinoma branch, the painted red walls made everything more vibrant. Let me tell you, it felt like there were angels around singing when the staff handed me the small spoon for the free taste. So heavenly! ^^

Gelatissimo

Unlike ice cream, gelato is made of milk and sugar only, cream is the exception. It easily melts too so you need to finish it quickly to enjoy it. Among the brilliant variants, I picked Pistachio, Chocolate dip and Strawberry Cheesecake.

Gelatissimo

Presenting my Sundae to go with chocolate and cherry toppings. Nyum! I think I picked the right combination. Before, I remember mixing all the fruit selections and it made my sundae a bit sour.

Gelatissimo

This cup size costs me Php230, don't worry about the price because it's already good for sharing.

Gelatissimo

Visit the nearest branch now and try it first with their small samplers. Discover the consistency of their gelatos and have fun with your favorite flavors. That's two thumbs up for me and I'm sure for you too!

Happy Birthday at TGIFridays

Despite a rainy Tuesday in Manila caused by the tropical storm "Helen", hubby and I still pursued to have a little date to celebrate his 32nd birthday. Mom and Daphne were of course originally included in the plan but it would be safer to just let the little one stay at home to avoid the sickness causing weather. Since we missed going to the North, we put a lot of effort just to get to Trinoma, plus the shoes that I promised as a birthday present is kind of hard to find so we had to search all the stores that cater the product.

It was almost 3pm when we were finally exhausted and hungry so when I saw TGIFridays, I didn't have second thoughts and scurried in. Good thing the restaurant has a lot of seats available.

Their ambiance has been proven to set a distinction, I feel so American for a while. Here, I don't really mind eating my food with some group of people enjoying their beers even at late noon.

IMG_0182

Notice the waiter behind me? For years, they have been consistently wearing cute head gears paired with black pants and that striped red and white shirt. Sometimes they also wear silly costumes. By the way, I also want to share this candy pink lipstick I'm wearing from M&Co. That's a cheap haul during the SM North EDSA sale event.. I really like it!

IMG_0189

For appetizers, we chose their traditional Buffalo Wings, marinated in spicy sauce with a few carrot sticks. The cheese dressing is perfect! 6pcs costs Php295.

IMG_0194

Since I'm used to ordering Cajun Chicken and Shrimp pasta, I tried to experiment this time with the rice meals. My main dish was Mushroom Chicken and Mushroom - I love the melted mozzarella cheese on it . The rice serving is almost good for two which I wasn't really expecting because I only chose the small order for Php395.

IMG_0195

Look at this humongous plate! Hubby chose Jack Daniel's Chicken and Shrimp (Php565). That's a juicy fire-grilled chicken breasts in sweet glaze plus the Cajun-spiced fried shrimp. The shrimp was really tasteful although hubby didn't quite like the sweet sauce for the chicken. (The menu should have a brief description, I think.)

IMG_0199

I was really laughing at this huge plate. It's almost the size of his body width! Nevertheless, it was a fun dining experience in Fridays (as I normally call it) with these generous servings. Best of all, we get to celebrate his birthday together even on a working day.

Happy birthday, Daddy! Thank you for being the sweetest father to Daphne and a thoughtful husband to me. Let's not look at the calendars starting today, alright?

( He didn't really want a photo taken kasi he's wearing the same shirt daw ^^ )

Not Your Typical iPhone Case

When it comes to iPhone cases or accessories, I think most girls want a set of colorful and fashionable items. Something that will add drama to what we are currently wearing, define our kikay personality and of course, something that's easy to carry around. When hubby said that he's eyeing for a weatherproof case, I had a few ideas of how it could possibly look like.  I was however stunned when I saw how literally bulky this case he's referring to - the CAPDASE Xplorer Weatherproof Case.

IMG_0139

According to the package, this robust hard shell casing protects against tough weather conditions, such as heavy humidity, rain and snow. The contour fitting silicon lining cushions iPhone against bumps, knocks, and reduces shock from riding and dropping.

IMG_0141 IMG_0143

It has easy access for headphones and original power cable. It includes a soft padded extra-wide neck strap for more even weight distribution and better neck protection. The detachable metal loop is used for fast access. It says here though that case should not be submerged or used underwater.

Quick Visit to Gift Gate

Whenever I think of a Gift Gate store, pictures of Hello Kitty or Sanrio novelty items and Swatch watches immediately flash on my mind. So when hubby and I decided that it's time for our little girl to learn how to wear a watch, I thought of getting one from Gift Gate. Off we went to Greenhills branch.

The store didn't fail to awaken my kiddie side and since almost everything is pink, I started hyperventilating! LOL! But kidding aside, I really find all the displays simply adorable. And if funds will permit, I wish to hoard  a lot of them for my little one.

IMG_0117

See those cute bags? I also saw some glass cup set which I wish to buy next time. Hihi!

IMG_0116

Check out these lovely Hello Kitty watches - all PINK! Most of them are for ages 3 and above and price range is from Php1,999 to Php2,999. Quite expensive noh? The one at the left side is what I first chose for Daphne but I thought that the design and the leather strap is not yet suited for her age, so I asked the staff to find something with a round plastic case and rubber strap.

IMG_0115

I also got her a personalized letter bracelet with floral charms from Eiko accessories.

IMG_0118

The little girl seemed excited as I am, struggling from her Dad's arms. All she wants is to run around and touch all the displays. We're just lucky that she wasn't screaming unlike other kids inside. Or maybe not for now?

IMG_0120

So here's our mini haul for today. She felt uncomfortable at first but forgot about everything in less than 30minutes. I'm just happy that I can let her wear kiddie accessories from this day onward, although wearing headband and ponytail still remains a tough challenge. ^^

Hope you all had a wonderful Sunday!

Beauty Routine

Thank goodness the sun is up again! He finally gave in to our wishes and I'm one of those who are truly grateful waking up to a brand new day. As we all pray for our weather to become more stable, I certainly hope too that we learn from the traces that Southwest monsoon left us.

Anyways, just recently, my little girl is starting to play with our little mirror at home. I actually like having those smaller ones which I can use whenever it's time for my beauty regimens. Speaking of which, I don't really have anything specific since then. A lot of my friends experienced breakouts during teenage years but I guess I'm lucky enough to be an exemption. My horror eventually started during the first quarter of my pregnancy. Acne breakouts, redness, dry or flaky skin - name it, I got it! It's normal for me to wake up with a swollen pimple everyday and I can only stare at myself because I'm not allowed to apply anything on my face as it may risk my baby's health.

Here's a proof with my skin issues:

(photos from L-R: No make up, obviously "bagong gising" look and a photo during my 3rd trimester, pimples and scars very visible. They look like totally two different people, LOL!)

Those breakouts finally subdued when I gave birth but left some dark spots and marks. I finally accepted my skin's sensitivity when I aged and my goal is to at least prevent having breakouts. I'm still in search for the best treatment products and with my current skin's condition, I think these ones below went well to my skin type. They say that the rule is to cleanse, tone and moisturize - the simplest yet the most effective routine because it requires one to be holistic to achieve better results.

I chose Liquid Neutrogena facial cleanser for my everyday use. Indeed, it is mild and fragrance-free. As much as possible, I try to avoid using scrubs as my delicate skin turns really red after washing. This is hypo-allergenic and goes well for all skin types. I like how it makes my face squeaky clean with a bit of shiny ones on thin surfaces.

For my moisturizer, Celeteque has been my trusted brand. I always want it water-based and oil free. Those heavy, sticky ones makes me feel that dirt and dust easily stick on my face. The aloe vera extract acts as the cooling agent that soothes my dry skin.  If you noticed, I skip toners. I believe that adds more chemical reaction whenever I apply moisturizers. So, that's only wash and moisturize for me before sleeping.

P1011262

I chose Garnier Skin Naturals for my non-greasy whitening cream. It has pure lemon essence and enriched with salicylic acids with anti-bacterial properties to help cure acne marks and dark spots. It's been my habit to apply this after taking a shower. I tried a few creams with the same ingredients but only turned my skin irritated that's why you really have to be careful and observant on how your face reacts to a product.

P1011293

They don't really need to be too expensive to say it's effective. If you found something that works well with your skin then by all means, stick to that product. But of course, why deprive yourself if you've got a lot to spend, right? :)

P1011303

For my pimple problems, I used Sansacne 4%. Whenever I see red marks about to form a pimple the following day, I already prevent it by putting an ample amount on the affected area before bedtime. It really dries your pimple and sometimes even the skin surrounding it, so it's best that you moisturize  after the treatment.

P1011306

These products don't guarantee permanent solution to my skin problems but like I said, the more holistic you are with regimens, the more possibilities to acquire desired results. I will try to post another photo after a month of continued beauty routine and treatments and see the results. Again, these are just my home regimens but it's always recommended to visit a dermatologist who can help us more, especially if the skin condition cannot be easily treated with over the counter products.

I'm sure you have beauty regimens too. Would you like to share some ideas?

Much Love,
OneGutsyMom
